Back in the glory days of high school, Gary and I were buddies. We ruled the court on the varsity basketball team (not really)and even shared the daily grind of commuting to and from Hendricken. Ah, the memories!

One snowy day on Route 10, I had a little run-in with a cement wall – my debut driving in the snow was definitely one for the books! Thankfully, my dad left me unscathed, but poor Gary ended up with a battle scar on his lip. Tough cookie that he is, he took it all in stride like a champ.

Love Gary – not only a master of the court but also a horse racing aficionado! The guy had a knack for picking winners like it was nobody's business. Sports? You name it, Gary knew it inside out and was as athletic as they come.

Those good old days commuting to Hendricken Warwick, RI, will forever hold a special place in my heart with Gary. Here's to you, buddy: I will say a few prayers so we can meet again– you'll always be the star of the show in my nostalgic trip to my Hendricken days! Peace be with you my dear friend, will miss you and love you!

Carlos Muriel - (Dallas, TX)

I was saddened to hear about Gary’s passing. I have fond memories of all the neighborhood kids hanging at Smith St Park playing basketball. Gary was a great kid! May he rest in eternal peace. God bless his family.

I hadn’t seen Gary for many years, but last year he came to the wake of one of my family members, and we got a chance to catch up. We always shared a love of sports, and he talked about seeing my son play high school baseball this season.

When we were young we used to go to Tommy’s pizza together. Gary would always get his own pizza, sauce only. Then we’d see a movie at the Castle cinema.

I’m saddened by his passing. My condolences to the family.

Rest In Peace my friend.

So many funny memories from Hendricken, Donald Hickey and I alway remember Gary eating chicken parm sandwiches with Sprite in the cafeteria before school started. I also
remember Dave Maglio telling me recently that Gary was a prolific writer on Facebook and had some really interesting and well thought out stories that he posted.
I also vividly remember Gary coming to my Mom's wake which was such a nice and heartwarming gesture that spoke volumes about what a solid person he was.
My condolences to the Cook family and all the people that knew and loved Gary.
